My view on Every day

Every day you do not do something worthy, every day you do not learn something new, every day you do not try to create something, every day you do not do something you enjoy, is a lost day. Fight for it!
really, really..

My wiew on Homeopathy

Homeopathy is some form of "alternative medicine" that claims they can obtein medicine by diluting various substances by a large amont (million or billion times) in water. Quite a controverse in medicine science. Largely is considered that there is no proof of it really working, and recent studies showed it has about same efect as placebo.

The placebo effect is defined in wikipedia as follows: "is the phenomenon that a patient's symptoms can be alleviated by an otherwise ineffective treatment, since the individual expects or believes that it will work. Some people consider this to be a remarkable aspect of human physiology; others consider it to be an illusion arising from the way medical experiments were conducted." That pretty much sums it up.

Now back to homeopathy. They say water has magnetic memory, and this is way the effects are replicated within the diluted solutions. Some experiments were conducted, however they were never validated by the science community. We can't really say what is true or not. I have no idea what the truth really is, but I'd rather stick with the science community.

However, I wish to point something else about this. The economic implications of it are actually pretty big. Suppose it's a fraud. Some company are certainly making a lot of money by selling nothing but watter. And this days there is a market for homeopathic "medicine". The economic implications are not that great as far as the market is really small compared with real medicine. In this case, some people are beeing scamed, but I would say is their fault and maybe if there is a placebo efect, there is not much wrong in it.

But the real huge economy implications would be if it really worked. The medicine factoryes are certainly some of most profitable business. Diluted solutions are basically pure water so they would be really cheap. Thus farmhouses would colapse and would have really huge implications in economic therms. I would say treating people with water could lead to disasters as far as the society is concerned. The other side is that humans would all have access to really cheap medicine, and that looks great.

Either way I have the feeling that because of the huge echonomic implacations it would have, powerfull companies have all interest not to give any credit to it, even try to block reserch on the issue. I think this is similar to car manufacturers not investing enough in search for alternative combustion, because oil companies are huge businesses.

We leave in a world led by economic interests.

I've got three blogs

I think it did not make much sense to mix up bridge, animee series and personal thoughts in one blog, so I simply split it in 3 parts. Probably this will lead to more frequent posts also :) (I've been mega lazy, uninspired or whatsoever.... lately)

Spam on the blog!

Apparently my blog, and maybe others too, got spam posted as comments. I'm still astonished...!
And obviously someone is making money out of it...
Now I think all people hate spam's. Does that help? Not much!
My guess is it would be more efficent if that "hate" would be redirected to the product advertised.
The fight should be taken up to the commercial vendors, so they don't pay for this anymore.

Do you belive in life after death?

Now this post is not about this world is about the "other" world. And then is also a theme from a song... exciting, huh? Obviously keeping with the theme from the previous post.
Basicly we have no proove of whatsoever when it comes down to this issue. Should we say life after life, life after death, death after death, or whatever, just "something" after we die.
My guess is that realisticaly it is a rahter optimistic asumption to belive there is "something" for us after we die, even though almost everyone thinks there is something.
But the real point I want to make here, is wether we do remember any of what happened during our present lives.
I say that we do not currently remember much of it. And sience we can't remember it all when we are alive, how much could we remeber after we die? Well I think common sense would say "not so much" and one would have to be even more optimistic to belive otherway...
So what kind of something is THAT "something" that comes after death, if we are not likely to remember any of what we did in our lives?
For sure that must be part of some reason why noone really hurries to find out...

The ultimate question

If you would have the opportunity to ask just one question, any question and receive the answer for it, what would be your choice???
What am I? Does God exist? What are the origins of the universe? What comes after death? What are the numbers for Sunday's lottery? What is the reason of one's existance?... just a few "popular" examples.
But really, when this opprtunity appears you must be ready, because you want to ask a question that will give you great satisfaction to know the answer, a question that is likely to remain without answer if you don't ask it.
So here is my guide for it, and finallly my ultimate question..!

Now, let us see how we can classify them, and try to give certain type of answers for certain type of questions.

First there is the "why" type of questions.
Why I am I? Why does a certain constant have a certain value? (like speed of light 300km/s) Why are athoms made of nucleus and electrons? and so on...
These are the question we could most easily answer!!!!!!
So here is how we compose the answer:
Because + the subject of the question + must have + the verb of the question + some + attribute...
Some examples: Because I must have been somebody!, Because it must have had some value!, Because it must have been made of something! and so on :))
So definetly try not to aks a "why" question!

Next there are the exploration questions. Like what is the ultimate particle of our universe? How was the universe created? How many dimensions are there? Are there paralel universes?
I think humanity can and will find the answers to these types of questions. Science did find a lot of answers to "impossible" questions that our predecessor didn't even imagine. Is the Earth flat?
Questions of this type that our predecessor asked, don't even raise interest anymore, so my guess is you don't want your question to become insignificant over the next generations...

Then there are filosofical questions. These questions are hard to formulate, and most likely you will not get a straight answer. I think it would be very hard to formulate a proper filosofical question. Let me give you an example: "What is God?" What kind of question is that? We don't even know what we are asking about... so how can we expect some satisfactory answer for that... what if they ask us back "What do we mean by <>?"

Now there may be other questions one would like to have then answered I don't think of right now. I just hope you'll be just a tiny little more prepared now then you were before for WHEN THE MOMENT COMES TO ASK THE ULTIMATE QUESTION.

Finally, Here is the question I would ask if that moment would come today:

Why does the univers need to be governed by certain rules? (more like "why must there be rules governing it?" "why does it have to be somehow?")
Now you may be astonished that I picked up a "Why" question :))... however if you give it more attention, the formula does not really apply here..

My wiew on artificial intelligence

Resident Evil, Terminator 3, Matrix and now Stelth, just to mention some of the popular movies. Why does an A.I. that becomes self concious have to be evil, start chasing and killing people and so on? Obviously the idea is more comercial then a supercomputer that starts doing good stuff. However, there is certain withheld on all levels regarding this issue in real life. It might be our usual fear of the unknown.
An artificial intelligence may be more or less smarter than we are. If is less, we should be able to control it, if is greater then us, then there would be no problem in letting it guide us and we may really need that someday. But I am optimistic :). Actually I like this issue, maybe I'm gonna work on it some day.

Bye Bye OKBridge

Bridge
www.okbridge.com
the place where it started.
well not exactly, but it definetly played a huge part in it.
I don't wish to talk about how it all began right now, and also to keep this post short, I will leave it for another time.
What is important is that OKB is the place where I wasted nights and days, making lot of friends, where I experienced frustration and excitement, and most importantly where I learned most of what I know about bridge.
My payed account, and I have reasons to say payed is about to expire, and for the time beeing I will give this up. For how long, we'll just have to wait and see...
So bye, bye OKBridge!

P.S.: Nice way to start blogging with a Bye Bye!
